History
Bloody Brook Farm in South Deerfield has been owned and operated by the Walter J. Yazwinski Family since 1950. During the early years, Walter Sr. created a very profitable and thriving dairy business; with the arrival of Walter Jr., Poppi, Annette and Elaine, the family business grew. The girls married and moved away to raise their own family’s. Walter Sr. retired from the dairy business in 1985. His son, Walter Jr., continued to raise beef cattle and produce on the property supplying local business with fresh produce. Most recently, Poppi has returned to the valley and has joined Walter Jr. on the farm and together they have plans to continue farming and to continue supplying the community with fresh vegetables. The Yazwinski Family has formally made the commitment to protect this farmland for the future. With the assistance of the Deerfield Land Trust and local town officials, the property is officially designated to remain undeveloped and part of the APR program. The legacy of Walter Sr. will be to insure that the view will remain open and pure, and used as farmland forever. We take great pride in being free of chemicals and pesticides and are working towards Organic Certification.
